CICP™
The CICP Program was
established to provide Paramedics, Nurses, Respiratory
Therapists and other medical professionals with the
educational opportunity to advance their knowledge and
understanding of patient care and procedures to the
advanced level.
While the CICP program
is specifically designed as an advanced medical program
for in-hospital patient care, a secondary component
addresses high acuity patient care in the ground, and
air, critical care transport setting.
The
CICP pre-course is an on-line based
program that is designed for students
with various levels of experience to
build their knowledge base in
preparation for the CICP Didactic
(lecture/lab) component of the program.
The textbook,
“Guidelines for Air Medical Crew Education”, published
by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), is
utilized for the CICP Pre-course. Each chapter is
authored by medical professionals that are recognized as
leaders in medicine.
We utilize the
Blackboard Learning System so that students are able to
track their study progress by taking a short quiz after
each chapter. The quiz is immediately graded, and the
student is provided with feedback as to their level of
understanding of the material.
CICP
Didactic (lecture / lab)
The CICP Didactic component is composed of 88
hours of lectures, and labs, that begins where the CICP
Pre-course left off. Medical professionals recognized
as leaders in critical care present advanced level
education, written specifically for the CICP program.
The addition of hands-on
labs to several of the lectures provides the ultimate
learning experience. By providing labs with the
advanced lectures, students are immediately able to
practice the newly acquired information to reinforce the
skill.
Topics include:
Family and Community Interface
Mission Safety
System Development
Air Transport Considerations
Medical Conditions
Traumatic Injuries
Obstetrics, Neonatal, and Pediatrics
High Risk and Critical Care Patients
CICP
Clinical Experience
Students will get first hand experience in
their newly acquired knowledge, and skills, during their
exposure to high acuity patient care during their
clinical rotations at various sites throughout the
Cleveland Clinic Health System, or in your area.
Various Intensive Care Units, Level II Trauma Center,
and Critical Care Transport service will provide the
true experience, and the setting to begin to tie
everything together.
